The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

So many years have passed since I graduated early-in March of 1981 from the College of Human Development at Penn State. I lived on the third floor of an old red brick house on Locust Lane. It was next to the dumpsters of Penn Towers! I can still close my eyes and hear the banging and beeping of the huge garbage trucks that would wake me up every morning before my alarm was due to go off. Since I graduated, I come back to visit the campus and stand before a new Quick Mart or carry-out corner store where that old house used to stand. I guess the landlord, "Buzzy" Bender from Pittsburgh couldn't resist the good price he got for that old broken down property. But it was home for two years to my various roommates, Kim, Joanne, Anita and Darlene - not to mention the array of boyfriends who hiked those three floors to visit us. Mostly, my boyfriend (now husband), Joe Unice. He was like one of our roommates coming almost every weekend from Buffalo, NY where he worked as a US Marshal to visit and take us girls out to the Canton Chinese Restaurant that was below the street level, down a flight of stairs in a little alley - I believe it was Caulder Way. Since graduating, I've lived in PA., VA., WVA, CA and now in OH. I've worked in hospitals, museums and now teach K-5 in Miamisburg, OH. Married to Joe for over 25 years, we have a son, Chris, who at 15 is a 6'4" Varsity Basketball player.
